Like all grocery stores, BALS’s 13 stores are also affected by the sharply rising energy prices. Energy focus was on the agenda at the leadership meeting for all BALS stores.
FlexMeter presented some of the measurements and results achieved in the ‘STOP THE POWER THIEF’ program in other stores. Among other things, we discussed the impact of covering, adjusting, and placing plug-in units for cooling and freezing—measures that save large amounts of electricity without requiring investments in new equipment.
The work to reduce energy consumption is already well underway in the BALS stores, with many initiatives that will undoubtedly reduce electricity consumption and the stores’ CO2 emissions.
FlexMeter thanks BALS for the invitation and looks forward to following the progress in the future.
BALS (the cooperative for Als and Sundeved) is Denmark’s largest independent cooperative association, with 13 stores in Sønderborg and surrounding areas, and more than 20,000 members.
‘STOP THE POWER THIEF’ is FlexMeter’s concept for grocery stores. The program focuses on immediate savings on electricity and is carried out by consultants with technical insight and experience in store operations.
